Lincoln pulled the curtain on the concept of a new premium utility vehicle - unsurpassed in the balance of space, comfort and energy efficiency - that shows customers a new way to tour in style.
Lincoln MKT concept features 3.5-liter engine turbo EcoBoost V-6 direct injection that produces power and torque of a V-8 engine with fuel consumption of a V-6. EcoBoost - combined with advanced transmissions, electric power steering, weight reductions and aerodynamic improvements - is a key element of resilience strategy Ford Motor vehicles.
The company is introducing EcoBoost engines that will provide savings of up to 20 percent better fuel economy on half a million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury in North America each year over the next five years. Ford first will introduce EcoBoost on the Lincoln MKS next year. Luxury sedan will feature 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6, delivering an estimated 340 horsepower and more than 340 lb-ft of torque on regular gasoline.
"EcoBoost engines can deliver fuel savings and performance over a wide range of vehicles from small cars to large trucks," said Mark Fields, president of the United States. "Lincoln MKT concept offers the comfort of a luxury sedan, spaciousness and flexibility of a full-size utility and performance of a sporty roadster - executed with new technologies and materials that make it more environmentally friendly because of the style.

Premium Efficiency
Lincoln MKT concept features an EcoBoost engine flex-fuel capable, offering the driver the ability to switch between premium gasoline and E85 ethanol blend gas. The burning of these fuels high octane, V-6 engine provides 415 horsepower concept MKT and 400 lb-ft of torque - an impressive 118 horsepower per liter.
The concept engine is mated to a six-speed transmission for fuel efficiency is better. Energy efficiency is also aided by the increase in weight, eco-friendly "upcycled" materials from SABIC Innovative Plastics.
Two upcycled plastic materials, Valox iQ and Xenoy iQ, were used in the production of the Lincoln MKT body panels, energy absorbers, wire bundles andglazing. Resins made from discarded soft drink bottles and other polyester waste, keeping them out of landfills, reducing energy consumption and shrinking the size of the overall carbon vehicles.
Some applications of the resin help the vehicle resist heat and chemicals and also improve overall noise and vibration.
Spacious eleganceThe driver and passengers will appreciate the Lincoln MKT concept of freedom - even in the seats that mirror those found in the first class cabin. Four executive-sized chairs offer comfort and legroom than before. In addition to pleasure, second-row heated and cooled thigh supports deployment under the seats, while footrests rearwardly from the deployment of the front seats, allowing passengers to fully lie down.

Elsewhere in the interior, chrome accents - including a door handle with a carved piece of Baroque influenced graphic - mirror the elegant lines outside of the concept.
For the center console, lighting designers invented and patented semiconductor technology that allows them to project into a contoured surface in 3-D. Until now, the projections are all limited to flat surfaces with boundaries such as square or rectangular flat-screen TVs.
This new technology allows designers to use non-traditional shapes and spaces for information displays as well as unique storage spaces in the center console.
Dashboard and expansive two-level center console, finished in a reconstituted oak veneer, houses a variety of technologies, including an instrument cluster inspired by Swarovski crystals. Using light emitting diodes (LEDs) strategically positioned so light appears to originate from the center of three circles quickly and radiates to the outer edge of the fast.
MKT concept of the center console, which runs the entire length of the vehicle to create a sense of continuity between the top and bottom of the cabin, contains individual air vents, audio and climate controls, and personal storage.
In addition, the spread of the flat screen floating overhead console which also hides two small cameras, each aimed at one of the rear seats to provide on-screen "conference call".
In the rear cargo area, a smart space behind the second row seats provides additional storage. Designers also included elevator systems that increase and decrease a series of rails behind the rear seats to allow flat-load or compartmentalized storage.
Lincoln's timeless design on a whole new package
Lincoln MKT concept features Lincoln's signature double-wing chrome grille, encapsulating LED lights that wrap sculptured hood, lending luxury utility a powerful presence.
Elegant body side chamfer runs along the shoulder, with dynamic squat above the rear wheels. Enter in each front fender and traveling through the door panels are chrome Lincoln stars with spears that add visual length of the car. A large C-pillar creates an aura of privacy for the rear occupants. Like limousines, the MKT cuts an interesting profile - long, low and comfortably wide. Signature roofline the full length of the greenhouse and remains uninterrupted. The roof itself is glass, allowing natural light.
As an unconventional surprise, designers incorporated in the design of the concept of agitation.
Classic look provides massive storage capacity, crucial for any trip.
From the rear, the concept is instantly recognizable as a Lincoln, thanks to the full-width LED taillamps stretching from every side.
Exterior paint bathed in a rich bronze metallic liquid that compliments the chrome brightwork. Complex 21-inch 14-spoke chrome aluminum wheels each have body color accents.
