Saab 9-3 is an entry-level luxury car / compact executive car produced by the Swedish carmaker Saab. It begins with the Opel Vectra platform.
The car is actually badged as 93, although Saab consistently published 9-3. The name is pronounced "nine three". This is not to be confused with the Saab 93.
1999-2003
The original is a 9-3, rebadged upgraded last generation Saab 900. Launched in 1998 to model year 1999, he has a little fine style with some models sporting a rear spoiler and removed Saab black centrally mounted "snow flap". It is available in three or five-door sedan and coupe with two doors. This is the last small Saab to use the engine of the company H.

2003
The second generation model was launched at the Auto Show in Detroit in early 2003. All variants have a 1.8 L or 2.0 L straight-4 gasoline engines from General Motors' Ecotec family, or a 2.8 L High Feature V6 turbocharged (from 2006). There are two different versions of the turbocharged I4, with the number increasing to determine the power output.
Power in the 9-3 delivered to the front wheels only. It is available in four-door sedan, wagon (introduced 2004, known as the Sport Combi), and two-door convertible. This is the safest car in its class, including innovations such as restrictions on the Saab Active Head (Sahr II) to reduce whiplash and Reax, passive rear wheel to reduce understeer toes and passive braking. In this model, the convertible (manufactured by Magna Steyr in Austria in early 2003) is best known, and is a best seller in its class in many markets.
9-3 and Opel Vectra were the first of GM's global Epsilon platform, which has now been extended to accommodate three new cousins, the Chevrolet Malibu / Malibu Maxx and Pontiac G6.
A special "20 Years Edition Aero Convertible" for the American market was unveiled at the Auto Show in Los Angeles in January 2006 to celebrate 20 years since the introduction of convertible bonds 900.
