Porsche 911 Carrera S Review

Porsche is proud to present the new Porsche 911 Carrera, the new generation coupe icon that has been touted as one of the benchmark sports car since its launch in 1963.
Tradition meets modernity
911 faithful to the traditions, the typical Porsche design language radiates strength and elegance. Characteristics of the silhouette always attract the eye while incorporating exciting new contours and precise details are designed; 100mm longer wheelbase for better stability and more interior room, front and rear overhangs are shorter, fixed length attribute it low profile 911, sporting stance is emphasized by under the roof line and the front track wider presence on the road increases further while improving the well-known dynamic chassis.
Rear-mounted, six-cylinder engine just flat as a symbol of identity 911, and behind the rear axle new car is the various upgrades of the machine is strong, effective and evocative "boxer". Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.4 liter engine 350 hp, and the Carrera S has a 400 hp version of the familiar 3.8-liter. This new engine offers improved performance for both models. 3.4-liter Carrera with PDK accelerates from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than previous models. By pressing Sport Sport Chrono Pack Plus Pack, which is cut to 4.4 seconds. 3.8-liter Carrera S PDK to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.3 seconds (4.1 seconds Sport Plus), 0.2sec faster than its predecessor.
The body of all new light

The principle of the innovative steps are passed through the body, a new light, featuring intelligent composite aluminum-steel construction. He was responsible for a significant proportion of the reduction of vehicle weight to 45 kg. Body structure also offers a much higher stiffness and optimized aerodynamics - including a more extensive, varied extending rear spoiler - has reduced the lift generated by the new 911 Carrera, while maintaining an impressive drag factor as a whole.
Innovative chassis technology
This is the new 911 offers improved straight-line acceleration goes without saying, but also offers performance at a level unprecedented in dynamic directory. In addition to a longer wheelbase, greater agility, precision and driving stability is based, among other things, the wider front track, a new rear axle and a new electro-mechanical power steering.
Depending on the model, there are other control systems standard or optional available assets and improve driving dynamics. This is especially true for the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilization system, available for the first time the Porsche 911 Carrera S. This system reduces body roll in turns, with the result that the tires are always in the optimum position relative to the road surface and therefore capable of transmitting lateral forces above. Therefore, increasing the maximum speed cornering and fast lap times on race tracks are possible.
The exterior designDisplay 911 is given the power of sport familiar others with a longer wheelbase 100mm, height is reduced, and up to 20-inch diameter alloy wheels. At the same time, compact exterior dimensions are generally selected. Viewed from the front, eyes wide arch attracted to the brand of the wing, with an emphasis on the front of the broader right track and to 911 Carrera adopts a sporty new model especially on the road. The redesigned exterior mirrors are now mounted on the top edge of the door and not as before on the mirror triangle. It is not only aerodynamically advantageous, also emphasizes the new design line and visual impression of width.
The interior design
To complement the modern exterior, Porsche designers created an interior style that takes cues from that of the Porsche Carrera GT. Pilots are now more closely integrated with thanks from the cockpit to the front center console-mounted gear lever lift - or PDK selector - located near the steering wheel in typical motorsport fashion. The elements of the classic Porsche style should also be found in, because they are outside. For example, the dashboard instruments with five rounds, with only the central wheel tachometer. On the right is the new high-resolution multi-function display, one of the convenience features are added to meet changing customer demands.
Porsche Intelligent Performance

Setting the standard in its class, as it has for generations, improving the performance of the new Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S and the efficiency standard for new levels. Fuel consumption and emissions of all versions up to 16 percent lower than its predecessor. Among others, this is achieved by the systems and functions such as automatic start / stop, thermal management, power system restoration, the first manual transmission with seven speeds and - in cooperation with the Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) - a "free wheel" function that decouples the engine to improve fuel economy when the throttle is closed.
Electro-mechanical power steering new offers not only the typical accuracy and predicted return of the Porsche, but also helps improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption. For example, Porsche 911 Carrera with 350 hp (257 kW) 3.4-liter direct injection and PDK optional returns 34.4mpg on the combined New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) - 6mpg less than its predecessor. Also, to 194 g / km of CO2, it is the first Porsche sports car to sit below 200 g / km of CO2. In the case of Carrera S with its 400 hp 3.8-liter direct injection engine, the economy when paired with the optional PDK increased by 14 percent, or 5 mpg to 32.4mpg combined Despite 15 hp more. This is equivalent to CO2 emissions of 205 g / km.
Obviously, it has been possible in the new 911 Carrera to further extend the duration of seemingly contradictory attributes such as performance and efficiency, sportiness and everyday use that has always marked the Porsche 911. One could say that the new 911 Carrera is 911 more than before.
In the UK in December 2011
The new Porsche 911 Carrera celebrated its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show IAA 2011 and 911 new UK Porsche Centre will be on December 17, 2011.
Porsche 911 Carrera at a price of £ 71 449 and Porsche 911 Carrera S with a price of 81.242 pounds. Standard equipment on all models was leather interior, sport seats, automatic climate control, bi-xenon lamps, the seven-inch color touch screen Porsche Communication Management with satellite navigation, universal audio interface offers MP3 connectivity, Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and the warranty of three years.
Carrera S adds 20-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque vectoring (PTV) with a rear limited-slip differential, in addition to gain a stronger 3.8-liter engine.
Installed for every 911 is a Porsche Vehicle Tracking (STM), a sophisticated vehicle security package approved to Thatcham Category 5 standard, and customers will be able to explore the potential of their new car by participating in a course Free Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.
